Coral
Reef Pictures Photo bank of captive aquacultured
live corals & coral reef is
an online identification guide project. These coral
reef pictures will aid you with id. while
scuba diving on the coral reef. I've been involved
with coral reef aquaculture and scuba diving
since the mid 90's. The macro coral pictures
have been taken in captivity on my aquaculture
farm. I have operated coral aquculture facilities
since the last 90's. I strive to capture high detail
in each macro coral reef picture. So the
next time your on the reef it may be a bit easier
to identify these species. If you are not a diver
there is no better time to start. Scuba Diving
is a great hobby and will provide a formal
first hand introduction to live corals
on the reef. You can visit each of
the coral families with the menu on the left
and see various pictures of some of the best
coral specimens I have had here at my facility.
Taking a great coral picture or taking a great coral
reef picture while diving is not as complicated
as you may think. A good picture is achieved
by good process, and taking coral pictures in
a tank or under water on a coral reef is a matter
of trial and error. Be
patient, it takes hundreds of snapped coral reef
pictures for just a handful of good photos, and
that is in the tank or on the coral reef. Start
with a novice camera kit and most important strobe
lights, they make a dramatic difference in focus
and color saturation. In vest in good strobes
they will atach to any outfit and your equipment
grows, Digital cameras are your best bet. In
taking photos underwater scuba of Coral Reef
pictures make your subject is obvious. Choose
subjects that fill the picture area of your lens.
To photograph a small fish or tiny coral, use
a lens that covers a picture area slightly larger
than your subject. Use your scuba fins slightly
and get
as close as possible. Most important, prior to
snapping the photo hold your breath and keep
your scuba gear motionless. Prior to, get an
idea of which way the current is heading. Using
your scuba fins position yourself in the opposite
direction, so as you float. You will slowly travel
across the coral reef and come in contact with
the perfect shot. You may have to picture shy
fish from a few feet away, with a relatively
small picture area. In this circumstance set
your underwater digital scuba camera to the highest
resolution possible and you can rework the photo
later. |
